The mineral nutrition of beef cattle can impact immune competence, reproduction, and growth. In the Upper Midwest, long periods of winter feeding present different mineral supplementation management challenges when compared to periods of summer grazing. This presentation will focus on the role of individual trace minerals in beef cow/calf production and specifically address supplementation systems that complement both summer and winter feeding systems.
