Krishona Martinson was raised on a dairy farm in Colfax, Wisconsin, and holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in Agronomy. Since 2008, she has been the Equine Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal Science where she leads the University of Minnesota Extension Horse Program. Her Extension program is known for its use of innovative technology, which led to the first mobile app offered for sale by the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. Her research program focuses on optimizing equine forage utilization. Since 2013, Krishona has served as Extension Livestock Program Leader, and in 2018 she was promoted to Professor.
