Alex Hristov, PhD

Professor

Dr. Alex Hristov is a Professor of Dairy Nutrition in the Department of Animal Science at The Pennsylvania State University. Hristov is a member of professional societies and the Feed Composition Committee of the National Animal Nutrition Program. He has a PhD in Animal Nutrition from the Bulgarian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and has worked as a research scientist in his native Bulgaria, USDA-ARS Dairy Forage Research Center in Madison, WI, and the Ag Canada Research Center in Lethbridge, AB. He was on the faculty at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Science, University of Idaho from 1999 to 2008 and has been at Penn State since 2008.

Hristov’s main research interests are in the areas of protein/amino acid nutrition of dairy cattle and mitigation of nutrient losses and gaseous emissions from cattle operations. Hristov is on the Editorial Board of J. Dairy Sci. and has been Editor for various journals including J. Anim. Sci., Can. J. Anim. Sci., and J. Agric. Sci. (Camb). He has given over 60 invited presentations and published over 170 books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
